In the 2024 Q3 World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide quarterly survey, sending USD 200 from the United States to Vietnam carried a median total cost of 5.87% and an average total cost of 5.82% of the amount sent. Total cost as measured by this survey combines two components: the explicit transfer fee charged by the provider and the exchange-rate margin, which is the difference between the mid-market rate and the rate the provider applies to the transaction.
Across the 31 providers surveyed in that same 2024 Q3 period, the total cost of sending USD 200 ranged from a low of 0.00% to a high of 17.50%, illustrating substantial variation within this corridor. Among those 31 providers, MoneyGram was the cheapest surveyed option as of the 2024 Q3 data collection date; because survey results are updated quarterly, pricing positions may have shifted since that point.
